In just two hours a day, you can teach your child to read, communicate and develop a love of learning.
Nonverbal Autism Homeschool focuses on these three things:
Academic success begins with reading. We begin with phonics, sight words, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Higher grades include grammar, creative writing and literature.
This course is tailored to nonspeaking and minimally speaking learners, many with limited motor skills, auditory processing disorders and struggle to focus, sit still or attend to nonpreferred work.
Tired of waiting on school or insurance to provide AAC? Proloquo2Go doesn't require special hardware and is available in the Apple store. You'll receive instruction on how to format, navigate and customize the app. Your student will learn core vocabulary words, where to find meaningful words, sentence building and, most importantly, how to communicate wants, needs and feelings.
Nonverbal Autism Homeschool presumes competence and intelligence in our students. It's unfair that schools require expressive language to provide access to mainstream academics. We expose students to age-appropriate academics that respects their intellect and makes learning fun, while at the same time encouraging and building expressive language. The two can and should happen simultaneously!

The September 2021 issue focuses specifically on nonverbal autism and includes my article, "Tips for Homeschooling."
I know this system works: I used it to teach my son how to read!
My son, Tosh, is 12 years old and has severe, nonspeaking autism. Six years ago, we met Mr. Sims when he was assigned to be Tosh's homeschool EF by our charter school. Like many parents, I had given up on our local public school system to provide the least restrictive environment as mandated in my son's IEP.
At the time, Tosh couldn't demonstrate the ability to count beyond 7, he couldn't read, and he could barely write his name. He became agitated when asked to do any school work and couldn't attend to a task or listen to a teacher for more than a couple of minutes.
After just one school year under Mr. Sims' direction, Tosh made unbelievable progress. He is now reading at a fourth grade level, learning multiplication and division, grammar, creative writing and geography. Even though he requires significant accommodations, he is learning age-appropriate, grade level history, literature and reading comprehension using a letterboard.
My son is not a genius. He's bright, but he has challenges when it comes to learning. I had zero teaching experience. But with Mr. Sims' help, we did it. And so can you!
Mr. Sims and I are very passionate about the rights of nonspeaking and minimumally speaking autistic people. We are honored to create this program and change the lives of kids like Tosh.

"An average parent, who will dedicate a couple of hours per day to their student, can achieve so much more than I can all day long in a group classroom."
