Most of us know that Epsom salts are a good way to soothe aching muscles after a hard workout, but why do they work so well to help autistic children fall asleep and stay asleep?
It’s all in the chemistry. Epsom salts is just a product name for the chemical compound magnesium sulfate. Children and adults with autism tend to be deficient in both magnesium and sulphate, which can cause a host of health problems, especially poor sleep.
Christmas is only six weeks away! If you haven’t purchased gifts yet, here are some suggestions for your ASD kiddo. I’ve added links to purchase the toys online; just click on the toy name.
This was Tosh’s main gift two year ago. I had my doubts because 1) it’s expensive and 2) it takes up a lot of room. However, not only does he love it, his friends have also enjoyed it and when they both crawl inside, they tend to play together, instead of just side by side. We got the model with LED lights on the inside, which make it more magical. I also got the stand, which is super sturdy. The combo holds up to 225 lbs, so we can both crawl inside for snuggles, book reading and playtime. Two years later, it's held up very well. No popped stitches or wear to the stand at all. And investment, but totally worth it!
